Our Research Lab

Research Experience

Undergraduate research fellows work closely with faculty and participate in all aspects of the research process—from reviewing relevant literature to collecting and cleaning historical data to helping with data analysis.

Methods & Skill-Building

Students affiliated with the lab participate in regular training sessions that are focused on building and deepening both qualitative and quantitative research skills.

Teaching & Mentoring

The HPE lab offers regular workshops and info sessions to affiliated students that are focused on professional development, including topics such as presenting at academic conferences, writing research papers, or applying for Ph.D. and graduate programs.

Lab-affiliated Swarthmore students also have preferential access to lab-affiliated classes that are offered at Swarthmore.
